About Familiar
Familiar Cat Cafe, located in Marion, IA, is the first cat cafe in Linn County! We offer time with adoptable cats along with coffee and other refreshments in a magical setting. It is a sanctuary for humans and their feline familiars that centers belonging, community, and wellness.
By partnering with Funky Paws Rescue of Buchanan County, Familiar plays an active role in facilitating cat adoptions and reducing shelter overcrowding. Customers can also view and shop works from local artists and makers who sell their products on consignment at the cafe.
What does a cat cafe visit look like?
Familiar offers 3 Mew-ion Lounge cat visit tiers to fit everyone’s budget and time constraints.
$5 for 15 mins | $10 for 30 mins | $15 for 60 mins
Sales Tax and a 3% Convenience Fee (for card transactions) are added at checkout.
15 and 30 minute visits are available by walk-in only, on a first come, first serve basis.
60 minute visits are available by online reservation.
Children 12 years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children 5 and under are free and do not require a reservation slot.
The number of people in the cat lounge is limited to 10/hour (8 reservations and 2 first come, first served walk-ins).
Everyone must complete a Liability Waiver and Release Form prior to entering the cat lounge or by a parent/guardian. This is available when you make your reservation and upon arriving for your visit.
Additionally, all visitors must agree to follow the Mew-ion Lounge House Rules to ensure the health and safety of both visitors and our feline friends! If at any point you or a member of your group (including children) are not following House Rules or staff instruction, you may be asked to leave and/or step outside of the cat lounge. Please read through them and reach out with any questions or requested accommodations for your visit.
Parking
Free street parking is available around the entire block surrounding the cat cafe. Accessible parking and ADA entrance are available via Familiar’s back parking lot. There are 4 alley entrances around the block to get there. The map shows the entrances to the alley. Let us know if you have any questions!
There is limited accessible/ADA parking so please only use the parking lot if you require assistance getting into the building.
NOTE: The back entrance opens immediately into the cat lounge. Please use caution when opening the door so our feline friends don’t escape. There will be cat room attendants ready and waiting to greet you!
